mid-sentence.

Blamed on the imagined ring

of call waiting,

for your attention also.

I wait also.

That waiting hangs suspended

Groping maybe, for some response,

Even a thought would do.

Instead you will look away, clear your throat

And tell me to rest well.

 

Strange that,

Coming from one

who has stolen me of all sleep.
